Babywearing and Fibromyalgia

Can you wear your baby with Fibromyalgia? Which carrier will work best?

Babywearing and Fibromyalgia

When my first child was little, I went with a cheap carrier. I thought, there really isn’t anything special about these things. I could only wear that carrier for an hour, at most, before I had to take her out and take it off. I was so uncomfortable and in pain. You see, I have Fibromyalgia and often things that don’t bother most people, like the squeeze of a strong hug is actually quite painful for me. So, I tried another carrier, and still more pain, still not able to carry my daughter for long at all. It would be days before I could say the pain from using a carrier had passed. I didn’t know about LÍLLÉbaby carriers with my first, but when my second was on her way, I knew I was going to need something to carry her in at times when trying to chase a toddler.

I was getting my diapers from Kelly’s Closet and was part of their wonderfully helpful Kellys Closet Cloth Diaper Support group on Facebook, so I thought, maybe someone on here could help. I’m so glad I asked!! I was told to give LÍLLÉbaby a try because the padded shoulders and lumbar back support are really great and would help to lessen the amount of pain a carrier would cause. I got the carrier and last weekend I took it for a trip to the Zoo with my toddler, my mother, and a single stroller.

Lillebaby Carriers

The LÍLLÉbaby carrier is very much worth the cost, and then some honestly! I wore my 13lb baby girl from 9:30am until 3:30pm only taking her off to feed her, change her, and so I could eat. I was extremely surprised to get in my car to drive home, with only some foot pain from all the walking. My back, shoulders, and neck (which are my most troublesome areas) were not hurting any more than when we arrived. I was so excited because this is a big deal for me. Just holding my baby sometimes causes me pain, so to have carried her for so long with no problem, I was impressed!! My daughter was happy and comfortable all day, and she did a lot of sleeping. Even the next day, I woke up just fine and had no pain and no flair up of my Fibromyalgia. The padded shoulder straps are very comfortable and take a lot of the pressure of the carrier and the back support actually makes my back feel better. The LÍLLÉbaby Facebook group really helped me get the perfect fit for me and my little girl! I’m now considering getting a convertible car seat for the car bc the infant carrier causing me pain when I have to carry her into doctors or stores. I can just get her out and put her in the carrier every time. I’m also looking into getting a second LÍLLÉbaby for hot weather so we both stay nice and cool on hot trips. Would I recommend this carrier, I certainly have already. It has been a big game changer for me!
